Surface Aerators
LeveL-21 surface aerators generate a particularly flat water jet which is distributed 360° around the aerator. The range of applications extends from pond systems to activated sludge systems, SBR and MBR systems:
- Air-cooled motor: no seals in contact with water = extremely long lifetime
- Direct drive: no gear = almost maintenance-free
- Wide power range: available from 0.75 kW to 110 kW
- High turbulence generation: high mixing capacity and particularly high alpha value
- Horizontal water jet: minimal aerosol generation
- Installation: floating = fast and simple
- Materials: PE and stainless steel 304 or 316
Combined surface aerators / mixers
LeveL-21 combined surface aerators / mixers are the most cost-effective way to aerate or mix the contents of a tank with a single unit and its 2 motors. The two functional parts of the unit can be used both in single operation and in combined operation, as the induced currents in the tank complement each other perfectly:
- Deep tanks: due to the support of the vertically mounted mixer, the surface aerator is also suitable as a combination device for very deep tanks.
- Combination aeration / mixing: due to the dual function, the combination unit can be used for intermittent nitrification / denitrification and in SBR systems
- Direct drive: no gear = almost maintenance-free
- Air-cooled aerator motor: no seals in contact with water
- Wide power range: available from 0.75 kW to 110 kW (aerator) / 18.5 kW (mixer)
Self-aspirating submersible aerators
LeveL-21 submersible aerators suck in ambient air without fan support and distribute it fine-bubble 360° around the aerator. The range of applications extends from aerated sludge storage tanks as well as mixing and equalizing tanks to activated sludge plants, SBR and MBR systems:
- Self-priming up to 8 m: no additional fan required
- Changing water levels: a single unit can cover water depths from 1 to 8 m
- Direct drive: no gear = almost maintenance-free
- Wide power range: available from 0.75 kW to 80 kW
- High turbulence generation: high mixing capacity and particularly high alpha value
- Installation: without basin internals = fast and simple
- Materials: stainless steel 304 or 316
Jet-aerators
LeveL-21 Jet-aerators are applied across a wide range of water, wastewater and biosolids treatment applications. Their primary purpose is to transfer oxygen to the liquid or sludge. A Jet aerator works through aspirating technology by simultaneously introducing large volumes of high kinetic energy liquid and air through one or more jet nozzles. The high velocity liquid exits the inner, primary jet and rapidly mixes with the incoming air in the outer jet. This intense mixing and high degree of turbulence in the gas/liquid cloud travels outward from the jet along the basin floor prior to the vertical rise of the gas bubble column to the liquid surface. The main benefits are:
- Easily installed, stand-alone or portable with optional fixed installation
- Reduces odors and septic conditions
- Cost-effective installation
- Self-aspirating—no need for compressed air
- Operates irrespective of water level variation
- Very low noise level, no aerosol formation, and no sedimentation on the bottom, thus minimizing environmental effects
Fine Bubble Aeration
Fine bubble diffusers produce a plethora of very small air bubbles which rise slowly from the floor of a wastewater treatment plant or sewage treatment plant aeration tank and provide substantial and efficient mass transfer of oxygen to the water. The oxygen, combined with the food source, sewage, allows the bacteria to produce enzymes which help break down the waste so that it can settle in the secondary clarifiers or be filtered by membranes.
The subject of bubble size is important because the aeration system in a wastewater or sewage treatment plant consumes an average of 50 to 70 percent of the energy of the entire plant. Increasing the oxygen transfer efficiency decreases the power the plant requires to provide the same quality of effluent water. Furthermore, fine bubble diffusers evenly spread out (often referred to as a ‘grid arrangement’) on the floor of a tank, provide the operator of the plant a great deal of operational flexibility. This can be used to create zones with high oxygen concentrations (oxic or aerobic), zones with minimal oxygen concentration (anoxic) and zones with no oxygen (anaerobic). This allows for more precise targeting and removal of specific contaminants.
A fine bubble diffuser is commonly manufactured in various forms: tube, disc and plate:
